Welcome to i.CanDrawIt® graphical programming
for Building Automation and Facility Management.

Many function blocks have parameters that must be set in order for the function block to do its intended job. One example is specifying which I/O point you want to access with an input or output function block.

To set parameters for a function block, Left-click that function block. The Tool Options dialog will appear for that function block. Left-click on an item in the Parameter list to edit that value. Since all inputs default to BI 1, we needed to edit two of them to select BI 2 and BI 3 in the example below.

There are a few other things you can do in the Tool Options dialog. You can rotate the part by selecting a button other than "Up". You can move the textual notation attached to the part by specifying an offset in the X and Y directions (positive or negative). You can enter a reference designator by editing "FB?" to show FBn where "n" is some number that is unique in your drawing (see Assigning Reference Designators first).

You have the option of adding parameters with the Tool Options; however, they will not mean anything without modifying code in the library to recognize your added parameters. (See later sections about editing the libraries.) If you want to simply attach text to a function block for documentation purposes, use the Annotation Toolbar instead.
